Sat 8th Apr 11:30 am 4:00 pm | Harry Goodman Battlefield Adventure Day is an annual springtime event for the entire family held at the New Bern Battlefield Park, 300 Battlefield Trail. This Saturday event is filled with learning activities and living history. Young recruits and their parents are greeted by reenactors from the 5th, 7th, and 26th NC Regiments, 35th US Colored Troops, and artillery from McCullough Living History. The newly enlisted recruits participate in practice drills, Civil War period camp activities, crafts, and games. Adults and teens will enjoy living history presentations and a walking tour of the battlefield. A commissary lunch provided by Moore’s Barbecue and Country Biscuit will be served to all. The day’s activities will conclude with an exciting mock battle reenactment that includes the children and a live-fire cannon demonstration. Registration begins middle of February. All 4 events for 2023 will be offered as either an in-person event or as a virtual run/walk. (Total of eight events) The NRBR follows routes over bridges, through historic neighborhoods, and through downtown New Bern. In addition to the in-person races the NRBR will continue to offer all four options as virtual events for 2023. All three of these events will be timed. A chip enabled bib is required and will distributed at Race-Kit Pick-up events at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center on Friday, April 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 29 from 6:00 a.m. to 15 minutes before the start of your race.
