Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day: Free Film and Lecture

December 7, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

In honor of the men and women whose lives were lost in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Tryon Palace will host a free showing of ‘Pearl Harbor: The Heroes Who Fought Back’ at 11 a.m. This 45-minute documentary tells the stories of the men that went above and beyond the call of duty. The attack at Pearl Harbor thrust the United States into World War II, but it is also remembered for the many scenes of heroism and self-sacrifice that played out as sailors, airmen and civilians stepped up and fought back.

At 1:30 p.m., join us for an intriguing and educational free lecture by local author Jay Eldred. Eldred will give his perspective on how that infamous day changed the course of American history and share with us stories told first-hand by World War II veteran Thomas Poole. Learn more about Jay Eldred on his Facebook page and check out his book on Amazon!

Seating is limited at each event and is first come first served.
